I founded Ridgway Driver Training as a high-quality independent driving school offering driving lessons in South Birmingham.

My main focus is on teaching learner drivers, but I am also very keen to offer development training to qualified drivers, including the Pass Plus course.

I am the company‘s only driving instructor. All training is undertaken by me and I see this as an important factor in maintaining a consistently high standard of service. I place great emphasis on treating every customer as an individual with their own particular set of needs, abilities and comfort zones.

I really enjoy my work as a driving instructor, and I think it is very important to keep up-to-date with developments in the industry. I am a member of the Driving Instructors Association (DIA), and BADIs (Birmingham ADIs). BADIs is an organisation for driving instructors working in or around Birmingham who are keen to adopt a forward-thinking approach to the driver training industry with a positive attitude towards improving the services they offer to their clients.

In July 2010 I was awarded the DIA Diploma in Driving Instruction Please view more information here. I was one of the minority of candidates who sat and passed all five modules within the same year.

My approach to your lessons

People rarely perform well under a lot of stress. I believe that learning to drive should be a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience. Therefore, I always strive to create a relaxed and supportive atmosphere in the car to help bring out the very best in people‘s abilities. I combine this with an approach to teaching which is highly focussed on attention to detail, and I always ensure that the student understands why we should do something in a particular way. This approach has produced an excellent track record in training students to be safe, confident drivers, who go on to pass their driving tests with a low number of driving faults.

The Training Vehicle

My current training vehicle is a Skoda Fabia SE 1.6TDI CR 90. It comfortably accommodates people of all shapes and sizes, yet it is still very compact and easy to drive. It is fully equipped with modern safety features and dual controls, and has the luxury of automatic climate control air conditioning to keep you comfortable despite the outside temperature. Finished in stylish blue paintwork with a white roof, the car is a superb training vehicle and is proving to be extremely popular with everyone who drives it.
